„Design by ORION: ALT WIEN“ – experience Art Nouveau in Vienna Coffeehouse style

Entering a traditional Vienna coffeehouse has a unique acoustic and visual imagery in the German-speaking world. The sing-song yet tongue-in-cheek style of the Viennese dialect, garnished with old-fashioned politeness in listing the coffee specialties revives the charm of a by-gone world. Reclining on a plush fauteuil, sipping your coffee, looking up to see the opal-shine demi-globe glass shades of „Design by ORION: ALT WIEN“ – you know you’ve arrived in Vienna.

It is the clear, yet delicate form language that is the hallmark of Viennese Art Nouveau (around 1900). “ALT WIEN” recreates this art style so commonly found in Austria’s capital. Many classy historic buildings in downtown Vienna are embellished by this series. But the Viennese version of Art Nouveau also receives much acclaim in Asia.

“ALT WIEN’s” metal parts are manufactured in solid brass and iron. Finishes are available in either polished brass, polished nickel or “Patina” hand-shaded. Polished nickel finish additionally offers the variation with blue or white decorative stones on the light’s ornate frame. The globe and demi-globe glass shades are opal-polished, with fluted rods.
